What’s the difference between pilates & yoga?

Pilates and yoga are totally different!

Pilates focuses on strength & flexibility and was originally created by Joseph Pilates to help clinets recover from injuries. Core strengthening and functional use of the muscles are the top goals, as are spine, shoulder, and hip mobility.

Benefits of Pilates:

  • Tones and lengthens your body
  • Improves posture
  • Increases flexibility
  • Keeps your mind focussed

Yoga is a spiritually based movement practice and while there are many different types, the main focuses are breathing, meditation, poses and stretches.

Benefits of Yoga:

  • Improves flexibility
  • Increases blood flow
  • Reduces blood pressure
  • Improves balance

Pilates and Yoga, while different, are both fabulous and can certainly compliment each other too!
