Having a six pack may look good but that’s not the only reason people are working on their core, having a strong core is so important.
Firstly, a strong core is vital to having a healthy back and good posture. Other benefits include better balance and stability, a flatter stomach and oh of course the coveted 6 pack cant appear unless you have a super strong core!

When you can’t get to the studio, a great way to work out your core is by mastering the plank!
Here’s how to do it:
Begin on hands and knees with wrists behind shoulders and knees under hips, toes tucked. Move shoulders forward over wrists and lift knees off mat to create one long line from crown of head to heels. Tuck tailbone slightly towards the floor, broaden through collarbones and shoulder blades, and draw belly button toward spine.

Start off slowly and add to it! If you are new to planks, why not start with a 30 second half plank and work up to a 60 second (or more!) full plank over a month. Go for it! If you need any help, you can always ask our teachers!
